Pianos need to be tuned regularly. Exposure to climate as well as movement, instruments quality, age and changing weather conditions can knock your piano out of tune and dust can build-up in the mechanical parts. we recommend tuning your piano 4 times a year (once for each season).Whether it's the 1st tuning in a long time or a regularly scheduled tuning, our technicians are responsive, friendly and professional. Having a real music lover and somebody who cares about the instruments is key to getting the greatest quality and an individual touch in your acoustic piano. Whether you working with a grand piano a vertical or stand up piano or even a console piano, our tuning experts are ready to tune your piano to concert quality.
Here is a short explanation of the tools and skills you will see when one of our expert tuners comes to tune your piano: The tools:
The wedge mutes are used by the tuner to mute the strings that they are not tuning. Depending on what note is being tuned, there might be multiple string associated with one note. These strings need to me tuned one at a time so the muter helps to isolate the sound of just the string that they are working on. The next step is to find the pin associated with that string and use the tuning lever to move the tension to find the correct tune. Because the pin does not work like a guitar’s tuning peg, the tuning lever is a direct tuning mechanism meaning it is one-to-one so very subtle movements will have very large changes to the tune of the string. This is why you always want to have a professional tuner to come and operate on your instrument. This takes a lot of technique and time to master and at Fort Worth Piano Tuning our tuning technicians are experts in finding that perfect tension no matter what kind of piano they are working with. |
