Piano RegulationAll of the moving in mechanical parts that move inside of your Pianos need to be properly lubricated and have un-warped wood parts in order to work correctly. The process of fixing these issues is called regulation. Little things like dust felt swelling and paint corrosion can cause slight changes in the movement of the mechanical parts in your acoustic piano. This can cause the keystroke to become irregular or sluggish. We specialize in adjusting in regulating the action of the keyboard as well as the pedals to bring your piano back to perfect Performance.
Here at Fort Worth Piano Tuning we only recommend having this level of service performed on your piano if it really needs it as it can get expensive and take time. For the most part, if your instrument has been in the same place and the temperature has not fluctuated, and the piano has been in use regularly, it usually only needs to be tuned normally. But if you thin that your piano might need a little more care, then we would be happy to perform this service on it.
Causes Of A Piano Becoming Out Of PitchThe piano is a very delicately balanced instrument. Inside of every acoustic piano is a frame that holds a ton of tension. This tension not only puts an extreme amount of stress on the metal from the instrument but it also helps to keep it in tune. If certain strings have become out of tension or worse broken, the loss of that tension at a certain point can bring the rest of the piano out of balance. This causes the strings around it to not have the support they need to hold the tension needed for long periods of time. Thus causing the piano to fall out of tune often and at the most inconvenient times, like when you are playing it. This is when a skilled technician is called into action to help nurse a piano back into working condition.
How Long Should I Expect It To Take? As previously stated, the time that it takes for a pitch adjustment is based mainly on how out of pitch the piano has gotten before the piano tuning technician has arrived. Usually, the first tune and assessment shouldn’t take more than an hour or so. But depending on the severity of the condition of the piano, the tech may need to come back multiple times throughout the week and keep adjusting in order to get the strings and the frame working together to hold the tension necessary to keep the tune for a long period of time. Fort Worth Piano Tuning is happy to help passionate music lovers like ourselves get their instrument back into wonderful working conditions. We know that an acoustic piano is a large investment and taking care of it is paramount to keeping that spark of joy for music alive.
